An unstitched three-piece set in dusty rose and gold, embroidered with flowers built in 3D from layered sequins that stand above the fabric, each with a gold bead centre. A floral band circles the neckline, and leaf and flower sprigs run across the front of the kurta. The sleeves carry full floral motifs in dabka, thread and beads, ending in a beaded fringe. The hem is finished with a border of beaded vines and sequin flowers. The sheer dupatta is edged with amber crystal drops that sway as you move.
The embroidery is rich but soft. Plum, pink and silver bugle and seed beads are laid in lines and filled into leaves and sprigs. Dabka, a tightly coiled metal wire cut and sewn down as ribbed gold leaves, belongs to the zardozi family of metal embroidery associated with Mughal-era courts. Coral and peach thread fills the large floral motifs on the sleeves. Together they give the set depth you can see and feel, from the raised sequin flowers to the fringe at the cuffs and hem.
The embroidery was conceptualised, designed and executed in-house at SATYA TheWorkshop, entirely by hand. This is 100% hand-work, not hand-look, meaning it is stitched and beaded by hand rather than produced by a machine to resemble handwork.
The set is available unstitched, and can also be stitched bespoke, with the pattern drafted fresh to your own measurements, for occasions and festive wear.
Premium, never inflated. Available at DLF Hyde Park, New Chandigarh.
