this piece is built almost entirely from thread, worked to look like print. Thread painting carries the floral motifs across the white base, layered long-and-short stitches shading each petal from pale to deep tone, the same technique behind what’s sometimes called silk shading or needle painting. Gold metallic thread traces the stems and leaves, with select centres finished in a gold rosette and a single pearl. A separate border, gold bugle-bead and cut dana star motifs with a maroon centre, runs the hem, closed with a scalloped gold edge. The dupatta carries its own tonal thread-shaded roses against a woven ombre stripe. Every stage designed and embroidered entirely in-house.
