The colour shifts gently as the saree is draped, so it looks different at the pleats, across the shoulder and in the fall of the pallu.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe main motif is a paisley, the buta or boteh, which Indian textiles also read as the mango (amb). It holds a lotus at its heart, with an arch of scrolling vines rising over it. The motif is outlined in pitta work, fine silver-toned metal wire hammered flat, with bugle beads laid along its outlines and sequins hung singly along its scalloped rim. A pointed-leaf border runs along the edges of the saree, with a sequin set in each leaf, and the same motif is repeated around the blouse collar.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe paisley has a long history. It goes back to the Sasanian Empire, was used under the Safavids, and reached Europe on Kashmir shawls. In India the same shape is read as a mango, a motif of auspicious beginnings, which makes this saree a fitting choice for weddings, festivals and new beginnings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe concept, the hand-dyeing, the embroidery and the finishing were all done in-house at SATYA TheWorkshop.
